Last October, I traveled to Islamorada, FL, to photograph a wedding with my friend and fellow photographer, Anna.
Highlights of a beautiful weekend exploring The Keys:
quiet resort / energized wedding / peaceful evening beers by the water / incredibly kind people.
Although I’m a born and raised Floridian, this was my first venture to the Keys. I’m not a huge fan of “beach towns,” so I’ve always been a little skeptical of everyone’s ranting and raving about the Keys—but when I arrived, I experienced my first taste of “island life”—and, wow, was it different, slower, and so very sweet.
We stayed at Coral Bay Resort—a quaint property with cottages, an abundance of native plants, a heated pool, a stunning Gulf of Mexico view, fishing and snorkeling areas, and more.
Their goal is to maintain “The Keys the way they used to be.” It may have been my first time in The Keys, but everything seemed like a dreamy paradise to me.
Definitely look into staying here next time you venture to Islamorada!
Bonus: if you’re in the area, grab some breakfast at Midway Cafe, dinner at oo-tray (best fish tacos and eggplant fries imaginable), and coffee at Café Moka.

On our last day we accidentally trespassed in search of the location of Bloodline. I’ve never watched it, but Anna is a fan, and the property was absolutely beautiful—especially with the moody weather.
On our way back to Orlando, we made a pit stop in Wynwood, Miami.
